Andrzej Derkowski, who completed in M.Sc, in urban planning at the University of Toronto in 1971, is now retired and writing as a hobby, concentrating on his life-long interest in recent European history. An active member in the Polish community, he served as Chairman of a committee of the Canadian Polish Congress raising funds for a permanent Chair of Polish History at the University of Toronto, a task that inspired much light verse about life in the Polish community. The Konstanty Reynert Chair of Polish History was established in 1995. He was awarded a Cross of Merit by the Government of Poland, and the Arbor Award by University of Toronto.
