Lara Szypszak is a graduate student specializing in Polish literature and culture at the Department of Germanic and Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, set to graduate with a Master's degree in May 2014. She spent the summers of 2010 and 2011 at the School of Polish Language and Culture at the Catholic University of Lublin, and interned at Zachęta National Gallery of Art and the Powszechny Theater in Warsaw the summer of 2013.
Lara Szypszak, who got to know Lublin by studying there, got to know Warsaw by working there, at the Zachęta National Gallery of Art where the staff adopted her and introduced her to their extended family of galleries, performers and offbeat places to eat, party, or just sit around and talk.
In this “City of Festivals,” artists, bands, dancers and mimes fill the streets while the small clubs fill with young people who have no intention of going home before sunrise.
